Quick, simple and healthy – sweet potatoes air fried until slightly caramelized are a great side dish to a weekday dinner. Aromatic rosemary and spicy black pepper complement the natural sweetness of the sweet potatoes.

Why not air fry some sweet potatoes for your weekday dinner with a hint of rosemary and black pepper to make things interesting? Air frying them is perfect if you want to cook the sweet potatoes really quick or don’t want to cook a whole tray of them. It’s also a great way to quickly get a dose of orange vegetables to get some beta-carotene or vitamin A in your diet.
Ingredients
- Sweet potato
- Dried rosemary – I like to use the dried kind since it’s cheaper and shelf-stable. It’s still quite peppery too even though it’s dried.
- Dried onion powder – Adds a bit of umami
- Garlic powder – Also adds umami
- Black pepper – Adds a bit of a kick
- Salt – enhances all of the flavours of the sweet potato
- Olive oil – You can use avocado oil or a neutral-flavoured oil as well.
How to Make Air Fryer Sweet Potato
Peel and cut the sweet potatoes into 1-inch cubes. Toss the sweet potatoes in olive oil and all of the seasonings, including rosemary, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper and salt to add some flavour to the sweet potato pieces.

Put the sweet potato pieces in the air fryer basket and shake the basket to create a single layer of sweet potato pieces.

Air fry at 375°F for 7 – 9 min or until the sweet potato pieces are fork tender.
